County Accountability: NAYMOTE Ends Local Stakeholders’ Dialogue In Gbarnga

GBARNGA, Liberia- A local stakeholders’ dialogue has ended in Panta, Bong County, with participants expressing full support for the building of a Maternity Waiting Center in Foequelleh and youth center in Jorwah.

The estimated costs of the maternity and youth centers are US$25,000 and US$15,000 respectively.

The dialogue held under the auspices of the Naymote Partners for Democratic Development with support from Forum SYD, brough together at least 25 participants from across Panta District and was aimed at providing clarity on the status of projects implementation in Panta District.

It was also held with the Project Management Committee (PMC) of Bong County.

During the November 2018 county sitting, delegates allotted US$ 40,000 to each administrative district in Bong County.

Based on the allocation to each district, delegates from Panta agreed on the completion of a Maternal Waiting Center in Foequelleh worth US$25,000 and the Jorwah Youth Center worth US$15,000.

Bong County PMC Chairman, Steven Mulbah, in his deliberation admitted there had been some fundamental missteps on the part of the PMC, but assured that all will be done to complete projects earmarked for Panta during the November 2018 county sitting.

He further disclosed that the PMC, has to date, made available US$15,000 to the Independent Construction Company for the completion of the Maternal Waiting Center in Foequelleh.

He added that plans are underway to commence the Jowah Youth Center in the district.

In separate remarks, participants lauded NAYMOTE and Forum SYD for the dialogue which enabled them to have clear understanding of the stages and costs of projects in the district.
