TEMPLE OF JUSTICE, Monrovia- The mystery over who may have stolen the US$70,000.00 the opposition Collaborating Political Parties (CPP) said went missing ahead of its December 17, 2022 “We Taya suffering” protest rally is yet to be resolved.

Since the incident, there has been claims and counter claims between the Secretary General of Alexander Cummings’ CPP, Martin Kollah and his driver Simeon David and speculations went wild pointing accusing fingers at other top party officials.

But at long last, the case has finally landed in court after the Liberia National Police (LNP) charged suspect Simeon Davis (Kollah’s driver) who had allegedly absconded with funds intended for the CPP protest rally.

Police have charged Davis with the Commission of the crime of theft of property and misapplication of entrusted property.

This is based upon a case reported by Mr. Martin Kollah, secretary general of the Collaborating Political Parties of Liberia (CPP) and committee head of the then “We Tays Suffering” rally who accused Davis of stealing the rally’s money.

Suspect Simeon Davis leaving court

It was reported by Kollah that defendant Simeone Davis on Thursday December 15, 2022, stole a black bag belonging to him, Mr. Kollah who happens to be the boss of Davis.

According to Kollah, the bag contained USD$65K that was to be used to cover up for the rally; scheduled for the 17 of December last year.

During police investigation, defendant Simeone Davis told the police that he was not in Monrovia on the 15 of December when the incident occurred. According to him, his boss had given him USD$100 on December 13, 2022 to seek medical attention in Sierra Leone, when he took his leave thus turning the keys of the car over to another driver identified as William Sayonkon, a driver of the Collaborating Political Parties.

He furthered denied ever receiving the bag of money from Dearest Brumskins adding that immediately he received the money on the 13 of December, he left the country and parked the complainant’s car at a known destination and also turned the keys over to the aforementioned name.

Police investigative findings

But, according to police investigation, it was established that on the day of the incident, defendant Davis was present with his boss and two other persons, who also testified that the defendant was present on the day; and presented photo taken, with the accused on the day the money was stolen.

It was established that the bag was given to Davis by Dearest Brumskins, who also testified that he was present on the day as was opposed by him during police investigation.

Police findings also revealed that the defendant also made away with other valuables that was in the bag to include: an iPhone (7), ECOWAS passport Techno (Carma 7), among other things.

Defendant Simeone G. Davis was acquainted with his miranda rights and duly charged with the commission of the crimes which violates chapter 15 sub chapter D, section 15.21 and 15.56 of the revised penal code law of Liberia.

Simeon Davies was arrested on January 17, by the Interpool security in Sierra Leone at the Bo waterside border for allegedly stealing US$65,000 intended for the highly anticipated December 17, 2022, of the opposition Collaborating Political Parties (CPP) ‘We Tired Suffering’ rally.

It can be recalled that Simeon Davis, the driver of Liberty Party Secretary General Martin Saye Kollah on December 15, 2022, allegedly ran away with US$65K intended to fund the CPP rally in Monrovia.

Simone Davis, driver of Liberty Party Secretary General Martin Kollah, appearing on a local radio denied the allegation thus challenging his boss and anyone else to take him to court.

Defendant Simeone Davis has been apprehended, duly charged and forwarded to the Monrovia City court; where he will undergo, pre-trial investigation.
