Criminal Court “D” Brings Down Guilty Verdict For 4 Armed Robbers In Monrovia

TEMPLE OF JUSTICE, Monrovia – Four criminal suspects in Monrovia may not see the light of day for a protracted period, as they have been found guilty for armed robbery.

Criminal Court ‘D’ Judge Mameita Jabateh-Sirleaf recently handed down a guilty verdict against the four defendants for carrying out the crime.

The four defendants include, Bobby Davis, Theo Tarr, Chinky Williams, and Melvin Kun. During the August Term of Court A.D. 2023, the Grand Jury for Montserrado County indicted the four defendants and others to be identified for the commission of the crimes of Armed Robbery, a first degree felony.

According to Judge Jabateh-Sirleaf, the four defendants went in the Chocolate City Community armed with deadly weapons, intentionally went on the rampage with criminal mind and intent to commit Armed Robbery following a raid by the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency.

Section 14.54 of the Criminal Procedure Law of Liberia provides that the maximum sentence for Armed Robbery is 25 years and above.

Judge Jabateh-Sirleaf adjudged that the first issue which is; whether or not the indictment that brought the defendants under the jurisdiction of the court was proven beyond all reasonable doubt, she answered in the affirmative. Judge Jabateh-Sirleaf said under the doctrine of burden of proof stated that he who alleges must be able to prove beyond all reasonable doubt.

According to her, the proof of a guilt of a crime will be determined sufficient where the evidence, even if circumstantial is as of such nature as to convince any rational mind of a criminal responsibility of an accused.

The Criminal Court “D”Judgee said the preponderance of evidence emanated from the witnesses produced by the prosecuting attorneys and the failure from the defendants to deny the evidence levied against them proves to the court that yes indeed all the evidence was sufficient to adjudge the defendants guilty.

During the August Term of Court, AD. 2023 the Grand Jury for Montserrado County indicted defendants Bobby Davis, Theo Tarr, Chinky Williams, Sakou Kamara, Prince-Horace, Bill Clarke, Melvin Kun and others to be identified for the felony commission of the crimes of Armed Robbery which is a first degree and a capital offense.

On Saturday, June 10, 2023 in the Chocolate City Community, the defendants Bobby Davis, Theo Tarr (alias Zorr), Chinky Williams, Sakou Kamara, Prince Horace, Bill Clarke, Melvin Kun and others to be identified armed with rampage with deadly weapons, intentionally went on the to commit the crime of Armed criminal mind and intent Robbery.

At the time, the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA) went to raid ghettos in the Chocolate City Community in a specific place called the Cassava Patch” where some of the defendants were arrested and taken away by the LDEA for the illegal sales, and in possession of illegal drugs. Meanwhile, Judge Mameita Jabateh-Sirleaf has instructed the probation officer to conduct an investigation on the characters of the four defendants before the sentencing hearing.
