Did Liberia’s LNP Shield Deputy Police Chief’s Bodyguard In Kubah Gang Attack?

TEMPLE OF JUSTICE, Monrovia- A victim of the notoriously violent KUBAH gang group in Monrovia, Daniel Davies alias DMX has questioned the role of the police during a recent attack on him in the Paynesville suburb of the Liberian capital.

The victim, who visited the Temple of Justice on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, told Judicial Reporters that the bodyguard of the Deputy police Inspector General for Administration Sadiatu Revees, Arnold Dixon was on scene when victim the gang group allegedly slit his throat with bottle, but claimed he did nothing to stop them.

According to victim Davies, he went to entertain himself with his friends at a local Seny Bar at the Du-port Road Junction and saw the bodyguard of deputy police IG at the same entertainment spot but he didn’t tell what he was doing there.

Mr. Davies said when he went at the bar, he met officer Arnold Dixon arguing with someone that he hit them and didn’t say sorry, but he (Davies) asked officer Dixon to tell the person sorry, which he did.

After that incident, he saw officer Dixon along with the KUBAH gang group members who had knives, gun and burst bottles. When he asked accused Dixon, he said those people are not bad, despite seeing all those deadly weapons in their hands.

“To my surprise,” Davies said the LNP officer serving as bodyguard to the Deputy Police IG called him and while looking at him, one of the KUBAH gang members sliced his throat with a broken, after which he fell to the floor and collapsed in a poll of blood.

But he explained that after that, he (Davies) saw the gang leader and LNP officer Dixon walking down the stairs.

On January 8, 2021, the police in a press statement said: “the Liberia National Police will not encourage any form or acts of lawlessness from anyone or individual bent on terrorizing peaceful citizens and undermining the rule of law.”

Davies told Judicial reporters that after they hurt him, he managed to get in his car and they began stoning and firing his car in the presence of the LNP officer who is the bodyguard to the Deputy IG.

The victim of KUBAH gang, who have the slogan, “KUBAH by heart and Gbelleh by face” narrated that after the bloody scene at the entertainment center, they the gang members followed him at the ELWA hospital and wanted to jump over the fence. But he said after the manager of the entertainment center went to visit him on the same night and recognized them, prompting all of them to escape the scene.

He wondered who is supporting the notorious KUBAH gang group, because they are equipped with motorbikes and other deadly weapons.

But in an Interview with the gang leader Varney Kiazolu alias Azonto sitting at his prison bench at the Monrovia City Court on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, he said the police are just wasting their time.

The gang leader then threatened to mobilize many people at the Monrovia Central prison and their sources, boasting that their sources finance are from top business institutions and some top officials of government.

Meanwhile, the Liberia National Police on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 sent eight members of the notorious gang group including their leader Azonto to court and they have sent to the Monrovia Central prison awaiting court trial.

The notorious gang group were with Criminal attempt to commit murder, Criminal conspiracy, Criminal facilitation, aggravated assault, criminal mischief and armed robbery in violation of Chapter 10, 14&15, section 10.4 and 10.1,10.2, 14.20, 15.5 and Chapter 15 subchapter “C” section 15.32 of the revised penal law of the Republic of Liberia.
