Drugs Crack Down: Police Arrests 12 Suspects With Narcotic Drugs in Margibi County

KAKATA, Liberia- As part of efforts in reducing crimes in Margibi County, Police in Kakata have arrested twelve (12) suspects in possession of marijuana and other narcotic substances,76 kilometers east of Monrovia.

But so far, the value of the illicit substances has not been given.

The twelve suspects include Justine Blamah age 21, Kelvin Sarley age 20, George Robertson age 44, Morris Kamara age 30, Godfred Sumo age 32, and Abraham Tamba age 35. Others are Marcus Ballah age 20, Johnson Koiyan age 48, Princess Brown age 19, Roosevelt Dunbar age 29, Musa Seku age 33 and Paye Bondo, age 25, respectively.

The Assistant Commissioner of Police in the County, Sylvester Hina in an interview with this writer on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 said the arrest came as the result of continued calls from citizens in various communities regarding the terrorization of their homes by criminals.

“We have been receiving calls from the various communities of criminals terrorizing their homes so we meet as team and we strategized and we came up with a plan, we started on Sunday,” he added.

The Police official stated that his team started with the enforcement of the 10p.m. regulation which was extended to the Lango Town community around the Kakata general market which is under construction.

Mr. Hina revealed that the team at the time came across a group of men gathered under one of the market kitchens and it managed to have arrested twelve of them including a female with several wraps of marijuana and other substances.

According to him, the suspects had in their possession 400 pieces of marijuana, a beniseed mixed with drugs as well as a cool-aid mixed with drugs among others.

He indicated that the suspects are been incarcerated and will be charged and sent to Court for persecution adding that he has already contacted the Court.

The Margibi Police said the ridden of criminal hideouts will be a regular routine until the City of Kakata can be safe and sound for citizens noting, ‘we want this time around if you are walking let’s say from FAS to ELWA Junction; you can be on your telephone and talking and nobody should come and snatch your telephone or bag’.

Meanwhile, Mr. Hina has assured Journalists that the monetary value of the substances will be made known to the Press subsequently, as soon as the investigators are done with the documentation process.

Mr. Hina then lauded the Media in the County for the level of information dissemination, which he said buttresses the work of the police. He used the occasion to encourage community dwellers to be able to share inform with the police.
