Edu Ministry suspends 3 County Education Officers, after probe into school fees hike

Some heads have begun to roll at the local County level at the Ministry of Education, in the wake of probe into parents’ complaints of hike in fees at public schools across Liberia.

Recently, a Special Taskforce to investigate mounting complaints regarding arbitrary hike in fees charged by Public School administrators.

As a resulted of early findings, the Education Ministry in Monrovia headed by Prof. Ansu Sonii says it has suspended three of its County Education Officers for alleged lack of oversight which lead to disregard for policies within their controlled school system.

Those suspended are Mr. G. Samuel K. S. Bondo of Montserrado County,  Mr. Moses S. Dologbay of Nimba County and Mr. James G. Gaye of Margibi County.

The suspension of these individuals takes effect as of the 15thof October 2019. This action followed after an all-day deliberation held between the Senior Management Team (SMT) and Education Officers who are the direct representatives of the Minister within these counties.

Authorities of the Ministry are calling on all education stakeholders and the public are advised not to transact any matters relative to education management or operations at the county level with the suspended persons until further notice.
