ROBERTSPORT, Cape Mount- The former President of the Liberian National Bar Association (LNBA) and a senior member of the Grand Cape Mount County Bar, Cllr. Cyril Jones has expressed disappointment over the manner in which officials representing the citizens of the County are performing.

He called on citizens of that county to elect people with integrity instead of hungry politicians.

Cllr. Jone was speaking when he responded to the Judge’s charge on in here recently (November 11,2024).

According to Cllr. Jones, when the Country’s budget is debated, huge portions of it go to the Legislature and Executive branches of government and afterward, they accused each other.

“We must elect people who have credibility, people with good characters and integrity “ and stop electing people who do not know nothing both off heads and lawmaking but rather money eaters he added.

The former Liberian National Bar Association president further told the gathering that the Liberian government needs to provide access to Justice by providing the necessary funds its needs.

“Imagine the House of Representatives is on standstill and who are those suffering the pinch”, it’s us the citizens Cllr. Jones told Cape Mountaineans.

Cllr. Jones commented on this jury management issue where one group of jury are recycled almost every term of court due to lack of support to the judiciary Branch of government.

“Even the prosecutor and public defenders need support to do their work efficiently,“ he concluded.

For his part, Judge Joe S. Barkon of the Second Judicial Circuit Court in the port city of Buchanan, Grand Bassa County released 24 pre-trial detainees from the Upper Buchanan Central prison due to their prolonged detention for 2 years plus without trial.

The release was done after the November Term of Court opening on November 11,2024.
