GBARNGA, Liberia- The Episcopal Church of Liberia is currently conducting a five day National Convention in Bong County.
Archbishop and Diocesan Bishop of the Episcopal Church of Liberia, the most Rev. Dr. Jonathan B.B Hart, this convention is intended to pray, meditate, hold conservations and seek God’s guidance to review the entrusted on members of the Episcopal Church of Liberia to prepare for the tasks given them by the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
He told the gathering that the convention is also meant to make prayerful decisions for the implementation of the Diocesan’s Strategic Plan.
“I pray the spirit of love, reconciliation and forgiveness will so characterize our fellowship during these few days together, may the joy, peace, hope and love of Christ be yours in this New Year 2020,” Rev. Dr. Jonathan B.B Hart concluded.
Delivering his Missionary Address, the Rector of the St. Thomas Church, the Rev. Father Michael Tuan Sie, Sr urged members of the Episcopal Church of Liberia to take responsibility of God’s work across the Country.
Father Sie, who called for a rebranded ECL, wants members of ECL the take ownership of the Church’s initiatives for its growth and development.
Rev. Father Michael Tuan Sie, Sr during the commencement of the convention on Cuttington Campus in Bong County also underscored the importance of youth evangelizing in the church.
He said when young Episcopalians practice evangelism in their various counties; they will be able to win souls for the Kingdom of God through Jesus Christ by means of preaching motivational messages, teaching, sharing, advocating and transforming lives.
The Rector of the St. Thomas Church, who touched almost all departments of the church in his missionary address, called on the members of the Board of Trustees to rise up and work for the forward march of ECL.
“The goal of the ECL is to maintain, improve and expand mission areas and educational institutions, improve and expand existing advocacy and development work beyond its current scope,” Rev. Father Michael Tuan Sie, Sr. asserted.
He told Episcopalians that residents of the ECL facilities across the Country have encroached on the property of the church, an act he expressed sadness in the Board of Trustees.
This year’s convention has brought together several Episcopalians from Liberia’s 15 counties, including the most Rev. Dr. Jonathan B.B Hart bishop of the Episcopal Church of Liberia, the president of Cuttington University, Dr. Herman Brown amongst others.
The convention is held under the theme “Little is more than nothing”.
During the five days convention, discussions and presentations will be made by archdeaconries.
On Sunday February 16, 2020, the most Rev. Dr. Jonathan B.B Hart is expected to deliver the conventional sermon with text taken from St. John 6:8-9.
