Ex-Pres. Weah Shows Solidarity With Released Lawmakers During Visit Tp Magisterial Court

TEMPLE OF JUSTICE, Monrovia- He kept his promised made Sunday night on four local radio stations—Voice of Liberia, Freedom FM, Trut FM and Kings FM—to show up at the Monrovia City Court where former Speaker Fonati Koff and three other sitting lawmakers were taken from the Monrovia Central Prison.

Former Liberian President George Manneh Weah on Monday, June 9, 2025 visited the Monrovia City Court to stand in solidarity of his detained partisans involving ex-House Speaker Jonathan Fonati Kofa and three other lawmakers.

Earlier, he urged his supporters in the opposition to be peaceful and described the Liberian National Police as professional, who he hoped would not violate the rights of peaceful citizens.

Ex-President Weah was accompanied by former Foreign Minister Dee Maxwell Kamayah, former Finance Minister Samuel D. Tweah, former Chief of Protocol Finda Nora Budoo, Senator Nathaniel Mccgill and Senator Augustine Chea, Representative Frank Saah Foko among several others.

On Friday June 6,2025, the Liberia National Police investigated, charged and forwarded to court four lawmakers in connections to the arson attack on the seat of the Liberian parliament.

The lawmakers were charged with multiple charges ranging from arson Criminal attempt to commit to murder, Criminal facilitation, Criminal mischief, Criminal Solicitation and Criminal conspiracy, recklessly endangering another person among others.

The police charged said, the alleged act of the lawmakers are in violation of Chapter 15, Section 15.1, Chapter 15, Section 15.5, Chapter 14, Section 14.23, Chapter 10, Section 10.1, Chapter 10, Section 10.2, Chapter 10, Section 10.3, and Chapter 10, Section 10.4.

 

Meanwhile, former House Speaker and three others jailed are expected to appear in court very soon.
