As part of Firestone Liberia’s ongoing commitment to the rubber sector in Liberia, the company is helping to put some finishing touches on a facility in the Todee District of lower Margibi County that will be the new home of the Rubber Planters Association of Liberia (RPAL), a press release from the company said on Thursday.

The new facility that includes four offices, a conference room, restrooms, and kitchen, has been a cooperative effort by the leadership of the RPAL and Firestone Liberia.

“Since the establishment of the RPAL in 1966, the association’s leadership has been operating from rented facilities. The construction of this new office facility is the first of its kind for the sector, and Firestone Liberia has played a significant role towards making this project a reality. Another way Firestone Liberia is supporting the Liberian rubber sector and the RPAL is by making the company’s rubber experts available to educate farmers in areas such as nursery planting, bud grafting, tree maintenance, proper tapping techniques to get the most from their rubber farm investments. Today, we are very grateful to Firestone Liberia for their ongoing contributions and support to our association,’’ said Madam Wilhemina Mulbah-Siaway, president of the RPAL.

A delegation from Firestone Liberia, headed by the company’s General Manager Don Darden, toured the facility to see the progress firsthand. “The success of the Liberian rubber industry is also our success,” said Darden. “We are proud to be associated with the RPAL and look forward to seeing this beautiful new facility put to good use promoting and supporting our industry for many years to come.”

Firestone Liberia has a long history of supporting the country’s rubber sector, a crucial pillar of the Liberian economy. Through the free extension services of the company’s Farm Advisory program, Firestone Liberia provides critical support to the farmers making up the vital natural rubber industry in Liberia.
