Girl, 16 allegedly commits suicide in northwestern Liberia

Voinjama- A 16-year-old female student has allegedly committed suicide in Liberia’s northwestern Lofa County.

The victim is a student of the Lawalazu Public school in Voinjama district, who is said to have committed suicide in Weezeazu town Wobomai Chiefdom, near the provincial capital, Voinjama.

The lifeless body of Rachael Jaygbeh, a 5th grade student attending the Lawalazu public school lifeless body was discovered late last Thursday at about 2:00 pm by a man identified as Zumo Majoe, with piece of cloth tied to her neck and hanging on a tree in a nearby bush in Weezeazu town.

The father of little Jaygbeh, Mr. Kpoto Jaygbeh told authorities and reporters following the discovery, that he did not actually know what led to his daughter committing suicide.

According to him, she was neither indebted to anyone nor was she in confusion with anybody, but only to their utmost surprise to see this disaster.

For her part, the mother of the victim, Esther Korveh described the death of their daughter as a great lost to the family, something “I wouldn’t go over it” she explained.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of little Rachael Jaygbeh.

According to some residents and family members in Weezeazu town, her mother and father were at the verge of being the same day when the alleged suicide was committed.

A15-man jurors set up to examine the body on Friday, September 7, 2018 reported that she died as a result of hanging and that there was no foul play surrounding her death.

Meanwhile, the body little Rachael Jaygbeh was later turn over to the family by the joint security for burial.
