Girls, 8 And14, Allegedly Raped By Men In River Gee & Grand Cape Mt. Counties

Reports from Getu Saykeliken in Liberia’s southeastern RiverGee County say a 37-year-old identified as Isaiah Brown has allegedly raped a girl, age 8, while in the western Grand Cape Mount County, a girl, 14 has also allegedly fallen victim to the crime.

But Brown told Police after he was arrested that he only attempted rape the 8-year-old girl in this southeastern part of the country.

According to information gathered, on August 8, 2021, Brown asked some  people of Saykeliken to follow him at the waterside because he has a substance to be placed in a water to kill fish.

Some residents of town agreed to follow him (Brown), but to their surprise he went ahead long with his own brother’s 8 year old daughter into the bus, where he is said to have sexually abused the little girl, threatening  to kill her if she disclosed it.

Rape is a felonious and nonbailable crime in Liberia.

Upon the arrival of the victim in the town, she explained the situation to her mother and her mother without delay,  rushed to the  elders and the joint security  and explained what suspect Brown had allegedly done to her daughter.

Suspect Brown was later arrested by the police. And he told investigators that while he and the survivor was on their way to the waterside, sexual feeling came to him and he decided to have sex with the eight-year-old child. He had the audacity to say that he was driven in to the act because he didn’t have sex for a long time.

When suspect  Brown was  invited  to a meeting with the joint security and the town, the victim again narrated her ordeal in his presence.

Mr. Brown admitted  that he attempted  to have sex with the 8-year-old but that he never did based upon the voices of people he heard while in the bush.

After allegedly committing, the act he escaped the scene and went to neighboring Ivory Coast and all efforts were made to have him turn over to Liberian security.

Medical report revealed that the 8-year-old girl was in fact sexually abused.

Meanwhile, suspect Brown has been charged with statutory rape in violation of Chapter 14.70 of the New penal law of the Republic of Liberia and forwarded to court for prosecution.

Girl, 14, Raped in Grand Cape Mount County

In another development, a man, 25, identified as Boakai Dassen has  allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl both in the town and in the bush in Grand Cape Mount County.

The incident occurred in Gbunah’s Town, Lower Garwular District on July 12, 2021.

Suspect Dassen is said to have had sex with the survivor first in one of his Friend’s room and the second time, he allegedly committed the act in the bush on August 12, 2021.

The suspect, according to report, is married with two children including a boy and girl.

After being charged with Statutory Rape in violation of Chapter 14.70 of the New Penal Law of the Republic of Liberia, the suspect was taken to Madina Magisterial Court on Aug. 17, 2021 by Officers of the women and children protection section in Tienii.

But suspect Dassen later escaped from the Court, after he was turned over to Court officers on Tuesday August 17, 2021.

Parents of the survivor are meanwhile seeking justice in the wake of suspect Dassan’s escape. By Garmah Never Lomo, garmahlomo@gmail.com
