Global Innovation Youth Leaders Summit Ends Training For Many In Paynesville

The Global Innovation Youth Leaders Summit Liberia Chapter or GIYLS Liberia Chapter over the weekend ended a day-long leadership training for dozens of young people in Paynesville City, outside Monrovia.

The Global Innovation Youth Leaders Summit is an International nonprofit community that promotes and creates ideas for social change and entrepreneurial change of any kind by bringing together students, especially disadvantaged students. They are said to lack of opportunity from around the World and giving them a platform for collaboration and community.

GIYLS is focused on entrepreneurship, education, cultural/religious tolerance, anti-media falsehood, poverty eradication, innovative and sustainable ideas on economic stability, and more in low to middle income countries. To increase opportunity for those in low to middle income countries around the globe.we need you to be a part of our community, and we know that once you are in, you will play a huge role.

 Speaking at the training, GIYLS Liberia Chapter, Ambassador Alfred Kollie said the leadership training which focuses on personal development in leadership, leadership qualities and building network is intended to bring together young people who have expressed interest in working GIYLS-Liberia Chapter and to deepen their leadership skills, personal development and team building knowledge and foster active participation on the operations and activities of GIYLS-Liberia Chapter.

Ambassador Kollie observed that for one to succeed in any organization, leaders should have the basic skills and knowledge about leadership and the institution in which he or she serve or lead.

‘’As we embark on this journey, I urged all of us to engage in to volunteerism and serve as ambassadors of positive change that will transform our lives and society by wisely using the skills attained here today’’ he said.

According to Ambassador Kollie, ‘’It is about time that we offer our resources, time, energy and passion for our communities, Country and the world over by helping to improve the living conditions of young people and avoid doing things that would damage our future as leaders of tomorrow’’.

He encouraged participants to volunteer their services in giving back to their community by positively making difference to people around and provide opportunities for young people particularly the underprivileged.

‘’At GYILS Liberia Chapter, let us cultivate the spirit of volunteerism to foster greater love, peace and joy in the human spirit to encourage others who have already given up in life’’.

‘’My fellow young leaders, let us not allow greedy, selfish individuals and politicians to use our unemployment to create or cause problem in society that would undermine our future as it is often said that the unemployed youth are the trouble makers in society. Let us change that mind set and do what is right’’ he concluded.

For his part, the Founder and Executive of the Young African Leadership Development Institute, Young Leaders of Africa YOLEAF Network, Ambassador Clarence H. Cole urged young people to crate the passion for leadership in making Liberia a better place.

Ambassador Cole wants young people committed to their visions and dreams in order to develop their personal leadership style.

‘’Be passionate, seek after knowledge and volunteer your services. Be committed to your vision and dream in order to succeed in you activities as a young person,’’ he said.

Speaking on behalf of the participants, Cassandra Walker thanked the organization for the opportunity to form part of the leadership.

‘’ let me first of all thank you all the participants and especially the speakers despite their busy schedule has found time to grace this occasion. I also like to express my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Ambassador Alfred Kollie for his valuable contribution in making this training a success. I must admit the training was fascinating and educative to all of us, we now have the understanding about leadership, personal development and networking,’’ she explained.

 ‘’ I would like to appreciate ambassador Alfred Kollie and his team for providing me the platform to speak to young people who are the mitochondria of leadership in every professional fields. It was very interactive and fascinating being with you guys’’. Varmuah Aloysius Fofana one of the speakers concluded.  

At the end of the day long training, the GIYLS Liberia chapter elected officials that run the affairs of the institution for the net one year.

Those elected are Dehyu C. Zangar President elect, Solange Roberts; Vice President elect; Joseph N. Johnson, Secretary General elect and Thomas Anthony, Treasurer elect respectively. Report bY Alfred Kollie, alfredkolliejr92@gmail.com.
