House Speaker Chambers in hot water with colleagues

-Another removal in sight at Liberian Legislature

Thursday session was the first of its kind since Speaker Dr. Bhofal Chambers took on the leadership of that body to call on Sergeant-At-Arm to rally all lawmakers to come to session.

Although the lawmakers were summoned by the House Speaker forcing them to come to session, but members of that body were very slow in appearing for the day’s session.

Accordingly when they at last appeared for session, they were seeing having pocket discussions among themselves thus taking them additionally hour or more to officially star their regular session.

Rule 2.1 of the House of Representatives in part states that “Daily Sessions of House of Representatives shall be held on Tuesday and Thursday of each week from the hours of 10:00 am to 12 pm and from 2: 00 pm to 4:00pm.”

But this session of their rules have for many occasions being violated by them with this one being the most recent violation, which caused them to start session by 1 pm; four hours from the official starting day.

Lawmakers stood in their small groups discussing at a very low tone, although what was being discussed in their pocket discussion was not heard by legislative reporters but a member of that body confidentially told reporters that “Speaker Chambers will go come what made.”

The lawmaker furthered said “his days are numbered”.

Another lawmaker was heard saying “that thing they are talking is free talk and it is a joke it will not work”.

Normally before session starts at the House of Liberian Legislature, a preacher will proclaim the words of God, this process is usually observed in noise and at some point in time, Speaker or Senate Pro tempore will have to call lawmakers to order to observe and obey the presence of God, but it was very different during Thursday’s session of the House of Representatives.

Rev. Nyemah said “the same man that put you up can put you down. The same people that put you there can put you down”.

That preaching was the first of its kind to be observed in quietude.
