On early Monday morning January 6, 2020 the day of the protest, several civil servants abandon their duties due to the protest organized by the Council of Patriot, despite calls by and the President of the National Civil Servants Union.

At one of the government ministries on Capitol Hill, some top officials were not behind their desks, but were seen sitting under a tree in the courtyard of this ministry chit-chatting and having some drinks.

On Sunday, January 5, 2020, the Civil Servants Union of Liberia called on civil servants across the country to report to work and go about their normal duties on January 6, 2020.

According to an employee of the Ministry of Foreign Affair,s who preferred not to be named, several employees refused to show up to work due to fear of the protest.

the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is currently being used as the temporary offices of President Weah, where his official is located including the Ministry of State and Presidential Affairs.

The COP protest is in demand of Government to tackle corruption, bad governance and revamp the ailing economy.

The Council of Patriots protest also impeded the free flow of traffic and affected normal business activities across the City.

Schools were seen closed in spite of the Ministry of Education pronouncement that classes resume Monday after a long break.

The protest, which started in the early morning hours of Monday, was peaceful despite its chaotic ending by early evening.
