Hundreds Of Dead Birds Discovered In Grand Bassa, Liberia Triggering Alarm

BUCHANAN, Liberia – Residents of Bolordeblee Town in district two, Grand Bassa County are said to be living in” what they termed as complete fear” after the dead bodies of over 279 birds were discovered in the area.

Bolordeblee Town is situated around Fortville, in Grand Bassa, many miles from Buchanan and about eighty percent of the residents are said to be local farmers.

According to the residents, the birds were just falling from the sky and dying instantly, something they said put fear in them because they don’t know what might have caused the deaths of those birds.

The dead birds were discovered in a sugar cane farm when they were harvesting it to process into liquor.

Speaking via mobile phone on behalf of the residents Ezikah Suah and Jehu Kpahyoah said the dead birds were discovered with chain on their feet and a marked on their feather but they could not clearly picture both the writing on the chain and feather.

The residents mentioned “We are living in total fear nowadays and this thing is really bothering us to admit because just imaging all of the dead birds feet had letters and numbers. We wake up early this morning and to our almost surprise to see over 2- hundred and 79 birds dead on one of the largest sugar cane farm in our area is total scaring and fearful my people”.

They mentioned that the incident is the first of its kind in the area since the town was founded in the 80s. They said that they have asked the chiefs to find out the true meaning of what has happened in the area.

However, the actual cause of those birds death is yet to be made known to the public but health practitioners have warned the residents to bury it and not to eat any of it.

They maintained that even though they did not pick all of the dead birds but the ones that were found filled two large tubs and have been buried.
