Imam Sentenced to 2 years In Jail For Severely Burning His Nephew

CAPE MOUNT County, Liberia- The 5th Judicial Circuit Court in Grand Cape Mount County, western Liberia has sentenced an Imam Identified as Siafa Fahnbulleh to two years Imprisonment.

The 11-year-old victim, who is an orphan, lost his mother during the deadly Ebola epidemic in Liberia. He also lost his biological father two years ago, after he want to fell tree and tree fell on him.

Imam Fahnbulleh, an Arabic/Koranic Teacher, pleaded guilty when his indictment was read to him in court and asked for forgiveness, saying that it was the devil that fooled him.

The court, presided over by Judge Ausman Feakai, had mercy upon him and sentenced him to two years jail deducting the nine months from the two years he has spent in jail.

Convict Fahnbulleh is therefore in jail for 15 months, after which he will be set free.

He was convicted for crimes of aggravated assault, criminal Attempt to Commit murder among others.

Article 15 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights forbids torture. “No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment. In particular, no one shall be subjected without his or her free.”

On July 16, 2019, convict Fahnbulleh was charged by the Liberian national Police and forwarded to court to the crimes mentioned above.

Imam Fahnbulleh lit a huge fire and put the two legs of his 11-year-old Nephew, Seidou Fahnbulleh in the blaze for allegedly stealing food, thereby burning under his feet and inflicting serious wounds.

The Arabic Teacher and Imam, after serverely burning his nephew his feet, he did not stop there, but went ahead lighting fire on the branch of a palm tree and then putting the boy’s two hands into it.

The man committed the act on Monday, July 8, 2019, after which he took the child to an unknown place walking on his burned feet amidst excruciating pain.

The little bo was later discovered in a farm kitchen by some passersby  on Thursday, July 12, 2019.

Survivor Seidou Fahnbulleh was accused of eating over someone food that cause his uncle to carry out such an act of cruelty.

His uncle who carried out the torture was on July 15, 2019 sent to the Madina Magisterial Court by the Women and Children Section of the Liberia National Police and later forwarded to the 5th Judicial Circuit Court for trial.
