The Chief Executive Officer of the Clinilab Medical and Diagnostic Center has underscored the need for public-private partnership in the development of the healthcare delivery system in Liberia.
Madam Habi Khoury has said the government needs to assist privately-owned clinic and hospitals so as the make medication cheap and affordable for the ordinary people.
Mrs. Khoury made the appeal when the West African Media Network honored the Clinilab Medical and Diagnostic Center located on 15th Street in Sinkor , Monrovia Thursday.
According to her, the Clinilab Medical and Diagnostic Center will next year run for 24 hours and seven days-nonstop service in order to address the health needs of the public at any time of the day.
She said Liberia still has a good number of professional doctors that the country can rely in terms of addressing many illnesses in the country; but the challenge is the know how in getting to them
The Clinilab Medical and Diagnostic Center Chief Executive Officer said the CMDC wants to provide affordable medical care of all Liberians regardless their status and financial status.
“We have been able to do a lot of services for people who cannot afford especially during the outbreak of corona virus that rocked the world for more than two years. While it is true that this entity was established for profit making but we are also trying to give back to society by exhibiting our social cooperate responsibility.”
She thanked the Liberian government for creating the environment for doing business in the country and praised the cooperation from the people.
According to Mrs. Khoury, she and her husband were both borne in Liberia and as such opening the clinic is another way of giving back to the society
For his part, John Khoury said ninety percent of the employees are females and they are all Liberian professionals from well-established institutions in the country.
According to him, the CMDC does not have any plan of decentralizing its operation but rather will to partnership with hospitals and clinics in other parts so as to give them opportunity to develop.
Speaking earlier, the Managing Editor of the West African Media Network, Joseph Wiah, said the CMDC was honored because of the relative contribution its making towards the health sector in the country.
Mr. Wiah, who is also the Director of Communication at the National Public Health Institute of Liberia, commended Mr. and Mrs. Khoury for the establishment in the health sector in the country
During a guided tour of the facility, Mr. and Mrs. Khoury showed the team the general and special wards, operating room, the nurses quarter and the pharmacy. Reports Augustine Octavius
