GBARNGA, Liberia- From February to November 2019, state Prosecution office has prosecuted 7 murder cases, 4 statutory rape cases, 2 armed robbery cases, 10 aggravated assault cases, 3 manslaughter cases as well as one illegal trafficking in drug case, the state prosecutor’s office in the central Bong County says.

Out of this number, prosecution lost three cases and over the same period of time, there have been indictments for a total of 62 cases,“ according to County Attorney Jonathan Flomo.

He said the prosecutor’s office disposed of 44 (forty four) cases by means of various disposition methods, i.e. full trial, confessed judgment, prosecution dismissal and plea bargaining.

Addressing a press conference Tuesday December 24 at his Ninth Judiciary Circuit court office in Gbarnga, Atty. Flomo said: “We like to extend our profound gratitude to all of our counterparts who continue to work along with us in our quest to ensure the peace and security of our county is maintained.”

“As we have reached the end of the year, we like to take a brief synopsis of our activities during the past twelve months relevant to prosecution of criminal cases.

The criminal docket has increased from 45 in February 2019 to 63 as of November 2019.

We want to use this special occasion to once again the thank the American Government specifically the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for assisting us in the Sata Binda case which was a landmark case for the Prosecutorial team of Bong County and Liberia at large.

The history we made and the record we set in this case has raised the standard and set the bar very high in our resolve to administer justice in terms of getting to the truth in a scientific fashion.

We further encourage those of our citizens and residents who have designed, and are taking or about to take steps to intimidate peaceful citizens and residents by their criminal comportment to desist as the police and the entire Joint Security of Bong County will not relent in arresting and forwarding to court for prosecuting those who will be intent on committing crimes.

We will continue to do our best to serve the people of Bong County by being robust in prosecuting all criminal cases but we will appeal to our citizens and residents to remain law abiding.

We like to use this medium to thank all of our prosecutors including our city solicitors assigned in various magisterial courts around the county for working tirelessly in the pursuit of justice.

We also like to thanks the judges, magistrates and the public defenders for their unflinching support and corporation during the year.”

The Bong County Attorney also gave special thanks to the civil society organizations of Bong County through their leadership, the media, the county authorities and our good citizens and residents of Bong County.
