In Grand Bassa County: Rural Radio Workers Trained In Various Skills

One of the leading community radio stations in Grand Bassa County, Magic FM has conducted a one-day training workshop for seven workers of Bayahkondeh Radio in District #1 in this County.

Bayahkondeh Radio is a new station established by Representative Hans Barchue of District One in the county. The station is located near the Orange GSM Tower in Vahn Town on the Buchanan – Monrovia highway. Bayahkondeh, which means “Da Our Own”, official launching is expected in early July.

The radio workshop was held on Saturday, June 24 at the station in the district. The workshop was organized and supported by the incumbent Representative Hans Barchue.

It was intended to build the capacity of the radio staff in broadcasting, sales and management of the station.

The topics covered during the workshop were: continuity announcing, developing jingles for station identification, studio management, sales and marketing strategies.

Others were: managing the radio station, target audience, what is journalism, mission and vision of the station.

The lead facilitator of the workshop was the Station Manager of Magic FM, Christopher Yarwoe and assisted by the News Director, Zahn Dehdyugar along with the IT Technician, Terrence Dolo.

The establishment of the Bayahkondeh Radio brings to 10 radio stations in Grand Bassa County.

Meanwhile, the setting up of two additional radio stations is under way in this County. One is expected in Ownesgrove, district one, while the other one will be number three “C” bordering Bong and Nimba Counties.
