There has been a dramatic rise in the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Liberia, with 58 new confirmed cases of the virus being recorded in less than one week, latest Update from the National Public Health Institute (NPHIL) shows.
On June 1, 2021, the number of active confirmed cases stood at 89. But Update released on Sunday, June 6 show the number of confirmed cases rising to one hundred and forty seven, with two deaths being recorded ovet the same six days period.
From 86 deaths recorded by June 1, the total number of deaths stood at 89 as at Sunday, June 1, 2021.
This dramatic increase in the number of Coronavirus cases comes at a time when most of this West African country have literally abandoned all COVID-19 preventive measures including wearing of nosesmask, washing of hands and social/physical distancing.
Only around 50,000 people have so far been able to take at least one dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine in Liberia.
