In Lofa County: Man Charged With Rape & Spreading Nude Photo Of Victim

News has emerged that a Sierra Leonean national has been arrested for rape in Foya, Liberia’s northwestern Lofa County and reportedly spreading the nude photo of his alleged rape victim – a minor.

Rape is a felony and a nonbailable crime in Liberia, an act that has seen a sharp rise in the country in recent times.

John D. Smith, 56, is said to have attacked the 17-year-old girl – biting her on the arms before perpetrating the alleged act.

He is later said to have photographed the criminal act unknown to the victim on January 25, 2020 in the area.

Mr. Smith is charged with three counts including statutory rape, violation of privacy and aggravated assault.

This news outlet managed to have secured evidence of the photo that was circulated by the suspect.

He was nabbed immediately after the matter was reported February 7, 2021 to the police. His trial is slated for today February 9, 2021. Report by By Garmah Never Lomo
