A 4-year-old girl, who was reportedly attacked and raped by a Chimpanzee in a town in Liberia’s northeastern Nimba County last Thursday, is said to be undergoing intensive care at a local health facility.
The incident took place in Torkopa town, District #8 and a local NGO rushed in to give initial assistance, but the parents of the girl are currently seeking financial assistance in order to save the life of their daughter.
The victim is currently seeking medical treatment at the comprehensive Health center in Saclepea, Nimba County, but she is expected to be transferred to a bigger health facility shortly due to her critical condition.
According to resident of the town Calvin Wandah on Thursday March 25, 2021 two girls (ages 4 and 12) were sent by their parents from the farm to carry food to a relative, when the Chimpanzee attacked them. The older girl managed to flee but the younger kid was left at the mercy of the wild animal.
Mr. Wandah told www.newspublictrust.com via mobile phone that while, the two girls were on their way back on the farm, they met an old chimpanzee (Baboom) who jumped on them, attacking and raping the child.
Report say that the chimpanzee has been seen around the town week prior to the incident without FDA intervention.
Meanwhile, residents of Torkopa town, Nimba County District #8 have deployed men the in bushes to search for the rapist chimpanzee (Baboom).
