Inmate Convicted Of Rape Dies At Kakata Central Prison, Liberia

An inmate at the Kakata Central Prison, who was convicted of rape and sentenced to six years in prison, has died in jail, 72 kilometers east of Monrovia.

The convicted rapist, identified as Mark Johnson, was reported dead earlier on Wednesday.

According to the Prison Superintendent Nelson Wuoh, convict  Johnson was sentenced on May 25, 2020 after he admitted raping a woman.

Convict Johnson died on January 5, 2022, while in the cell after a protracted illness.

Mr. Wuoh said he took convict Johnson to several health facilities but due to lack of medication, he couldn’t be well at all

During his trial, he pleaded guilty to the crime charged through a pre- bargaining.

His remains is still at the prison facility while arrangements are ongoing.
