New Sight Eye Center (NSEC) has donated a new land cruiser jeep to the Jackson F. Doe Eye Center located in Nimba County.

New Sight Eye Center remains one of the major eye health providers addressing some of the eye problems and performing high-volume cataracts and other challenging eye operations.

The vehicle, which is valued at over thirty-eight thousand US dollars ($US$38,000) was made possible through grant funding from Lions Club International Foundation and Lion Club of Liberia.

Speaking Saturday, November 24, 2023, in Paynesville City, the Executive Director of New Sight Eye Center Mr. Robert Dolo said, the vehicle is indeed to be used for surgical and community outreach activities by the hospital in the area of eyes operations.

“This has been a project we developed two years back and this project covers logistics, human resource development, appropriate technology, equipment, and infrastructure with the jeep in the category of logistics,” Mr. Dolo noted.

According to the Executive Director, the vehicle came as a result of a difficulty people face particularly those in rural areas in getting access to the road to medical facilities.

Mr. Dolo observed that the demand for eye health and the volume of patients requiring eye care services continues to increase as Life expectancy is also increasing in Liberia.

“We believe that getting this vehicle will be able to help them solve their outreach problem and to increase their outreach activities in the community in streaming patients and bringing them for operations,” he said.

At the same time, Mr. Dolo has urged the Hospital administration to take good care and maintain it, challenging them for it to be used for the intended purpose.

In remarks, the CEO of Jackson F. Doe Hospital, Dr. Ponnie Robertlee Dolo thanked the New Sight Eye Center the Lion Club International Foundation, and the Lion Club of Liberia.

According to him, the jeep is what they have been waiting for, and promised that the vehicle will be used for the intended purpose.

Dr. Dolo noted that they as institutions, will continue to play their part in supporting the project and its implementation.

The Jackson F. Doe CEO has called on the New Sight Eye Center and Lion Club International Foundation and Lions Club of Liberia to see the need for specialized training of individuals in the eye area.
