A nongovernmental organization, the Keyara’s Gift Incorporated, has awarded scholarships to 175 students from elementary school through to the college level in Liberia, as Augustine Octavius reports.

The Country Manager of the Keyara’s Gift Incorporated, Rev. Francis Kollie, disclosed that the scholarships cover the tuition, transportation, feeding, medication, accommodation and hospitality for some of the beneficiaries.

Rev. Kollie made the disclosure when he distributed copybooks, pens and book bags to the students in Paynesville outside Monrovia on Friday.

According to Reverend Kollie, some of the items that were distributed among the students were sanitary pads for bigger female-students, pens and pencils sharpeners among others.

He encouraged the students to be studious because the monies used in paying for the fees are made available to the hard works of others.

The head of the Keyara’s gift Incorporated thanked the Board Chairman, Kreig Ecklund; and Program Manager, Karen Ecklurd; both in the United States, for their contributions to the scholarship program for children in Liberia.

Rev. Kollie also cautioned the monitors to always visit the schools in order to ascertain the performances, protection and observe the environment in which these students are acquiring their education.

The Keyara’s Gift Country Manager appealed to the Education Ministry to prevail on the some of the private and faith based schools to reduce the tuitions.

In separate remarks, some of the guardians and parents thanked the Keyara’s Gift for shouldering the tuition fees of their children and thanked sponsors of organization in the United States.

The program was graced by mentors, guardians, students including disabled among many others.
