VOINJAMA, Liberia- As part of his commitment made while campaigning in 2011 and 2014 to help improve quality health care services in Lofa County, Senator Steve Zargo has donated an assortment of medical items to the second largest health facility in Zorzor District in this north-western region.
The Lofa County lone Senator made the donation at the weekend (Friday, February 11, 2022) at the health facility, adding L$5k for staffers he met at the facility for the holiday celebration.
During the presentation, the Senator reaffirmed his commitment to working with the County Health Team in order to help improve its system for the provision of quality and affordable health care for citizens of the county.
The Officer-in-charge of the Konia Health Center, Madam Patricia F. Guanue and the Administrator, Mr. Joseph A. Koikoi, who received the donation, thanked and appreciated the Senator for what they described as a “timely gesture”.
They furthered encouraged the Senator to keep advocating for more attentions through legislation in the health sector of the county.
The two officials made specific appeal for the provision of an Ambulance to the Konia health facility considering the huge number of catchment communities under the facility.
It can be recalled that as chairman of the Lofa County legislative caucus, the Senator donated a little over US$100k worth of assorted medical supplies; 100 bags of 50 kg rice to the County Health Team; along with several hospital beds for the treatment unit at the County’s biggest referral hospital which is the Tellewoyan Memorial Hospital in Voinjama City.
Also, his periodic supply of essential drugs and fuel to Tellewoyan Memorial Hospital cannot be over emphasized.
The Yendimoilahun and ZenaLorma clinics are health facilities that have also benefited from the Senator’s health initiatives in the county.
The biggest in the health sector of the county was a US$26k contributed towards the construction of a health Center in Foya that was initiated by the late Rep. Eugene Fallah Kparkar of Dustrict 1, Lofa County.
