But Some PUP Top Officials Refuse To Sign Resolution To Support The Ruling Party

The ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) is garnering more support from registered political parties, less than six months to presidential and legislative elections on October 10, 2023.
In addition to several other opposition parties that had earlier declared their support, the opposition People’s Unification Party of Margibi County Senator Emmanuel Nuquay has officially declared support for the second term bid of President George Manneh Weah in the 2023 polls.
PUP’s National Secretary General, Moses Kwehai, disclosed that the party has resolved to surgically conduct and operate a grass root campaign within its power and reach out throughout the nooks and corners in Liberia until President Weah is re-elected on October 10, 2023.
Mr. Kwehai made the disclosure at a press conference following the adoption of a five count resolution at the end of the meeting of the leadership of the PUP, comprising of the Governing Council and the National Executive Committee held in Monrovia late Wednesday evening.
According to the resolution, the party will work collaboratively and truthfully with the Coalition for Democratic Change designing and redesigning, planning and counter planning, executing and monitoring every aspect of the electioneering process until the victory is won bigly at the impending October presidential and legislative polls.
The PUP is therefore mandating all national officers, county chairpersons and those vying for legislative e seats on the party’s ticket in the upcoming elections are straightly directed to execute this matching order by vigorously campaigning for the victory of CDC standard bearer as President of Liberia.
The PUP’s mandate also instructed all chairpersons and officials of all districts, mobilization committees, clan coordinating committees and town people’s forum to follow suit in ensuring that President Weah gets a convincing second term mandate.
The leadership resolved that the Governing Council in collaboration with the national executive committee has been mandated to expeditiously source funding for the holding of the second extraordinary convention, when President George Weah and the party’s legislative candidates will receive the overwhelming endorsement of the PUP.
The six-page resolution was signed by Tokpah Mulbah, Chairman , Governing Council; Senator Emmanuel Nuquay, member, Governing Council and ; Representative Edward Karfiah, Secretary, Governin g Council.
Others who signed the resolution were Representative James Kolleh, member , PUP Legislative Caucus, Attorney Garrison Yealue, Vice Chairman for Legal Affairs, Moses Kwehai, National Secretary General, among others,
Those who did not sign the resolution were Representative Samuel Kogar, National Chairman; Ebenezer Wilson, National Vice Chairman for Political Affairs; and Prince Wreh, National Chairman for Recruitment and Mobilization.
Others who did not sign were Herbert Bryant, National Deputy Secretary General; Amos Myers, Assistant Secretary for Press and Publicity; and Joseph Beyan, Chairperson, Youth Congress.
Other members of the national executive committee who did not sign were William Subuzu, Chairperson, Lofa County; and Christopher Zuannah, Chairperson, Bomi County.
