Liberia: Calm returns to Zorzor after another gruesome murder

The headless body of a young female is found in the bush. after being killed in yet another gruesome murder.

Calm is gradually returning to Zorzor in Liberia’s northwestern Lofa County, following the killing of a 9th grade student of the Sumokota Public School around Zalemia town.

Information so far is that this 9th grade student identified as Krobu Gibson and her husband Mulbah Z. Flomo Senior student of the Lofa County Community College where both on the farm on Thursday June 14, when the alleged perpetrator identified as Smithwou Ballah allegedly shot at Mulbah Flomo with a single barrel gun. He later ran after his wife Krobu Gibson, shot her from the back and also cut off her head, her right hand, right foot and removed her private part in the name of destroying evidence.

According to reports, the husband who was shot first managed to get to Fassabu and was rushed to the hospital in Zorzor and later referred to the Tellewoyan hospital in Voinjama after been in coma for few hours despite earlier news of his death.

According to some inhabitants of the town, the both man were sometimes back involved in a conflict relating to land but that the victim at the time worn the case which they believe might have resulted to this.

Aggrieved citizens of the area blocked the main rood for several hours demanding for the living body of the alleged perpetrator and the parts of their sister.

Additionally, 4 houses belonging to the alleged perpetrator, his father and brother were all damage completely and his rice kitchen set at blast while the father of the perpetrator Kollie Ballah who is the school principal is being referred to Monrovia for treatment after been flogged by the angry crowd in Zalemia town.

The Zorzor police station was also on June 15 attacked by another set of angry crowd who were seen throwing stones over the building leaving some solar plates damage.

Huge number of security officers led by 102 of the LNP Robert Buddy is currently in the district to put the situation under control.

Meanwhile, five police officers are currently undergoing treatment after their car had an accident while on their way from Gbarnga to Zorzor to respond to the situation.

The alleged perpetrator is said to be in police custody.

For the past 12 years Zorzor district has negatively boast of five mysterious death, three of them been women.

It all started with 17 years old Vewu Kesselee who was killed in 2007.
In 2010 Korpo Kamara left her Zorzor Lutheran Mission school campus to Konia town for weekend and was killed in Konia town.

Her death lead to serious protest from the student community in Zorzor district which eventually hit the county provision capital Voinjama and lead to massive destruction with no perpetrator being found liable for her death.

Just a year on in 2011 a day after Liberia 171 birthday anniversary in Lofa, Krubo Tarnue was killed and parts justice did not survive in the case but it was later reported that the convict escape prison.
