Liberia Pure Honey was recognized for its commitment to excellence when it was awarded first place in its category at the National Honey Show in England over last weekend, a report say.
Competing against honeys from across Africa on October 26, 2018, Liberia Pure Honey won first prize because of its superior aroma, taste and viscosity of its brand of honey.
The award has delighted the owners of the entity whose focus remains sustainability and bringing up the business alongside the Liberian beekeeping industry.
“Since Liberia Pure Honey’s inception, we have been committed to producing a world-class product which would make us stand out, so it’s not a surprise that we emerged number one,” said Liberia Pure Honey co-owner Gladys Freeman.
She added that “honey is a gift and a blessing, and we treat the bees and the land with the respect they both deserve”.
The Liberian Pure Honey co-owner said they see the award as one for all employees of the company, bee keepers in Liberia and the entire country.
According to Madam Freeman, Liberia Pure Honey started buying honey from farmers in 2012 as a response to the need for job creation in Liberia, especially in rural areas.
With very few income generating opportunities outside of the major cities and no local honey in grocery stores, Liberia Pure Honey knew if they could create a market for quality honey, more people could become beekeepers and gain an added source of income.
Liberia Pure Honey says it dedicates its profits to the development of the honey industry with the aim of developing an industry that can help improve the lives of people across the entire country.
“Liberia Pure Honey wants this award to be a source of inspiration to all Liberian owned businesses, said Freeman; pointing out that the award given them clearly manifests that Liberia has the resources to produce premium products that can compete on international stages.
