Liberia VP Taylor Ready To Resign As NPP Standard Bearer For The Sake Of Peace

Liberia’s Vice President and former wife of jailed Liberian former President Charles Ghanakay Taylor, Jewel Howard-Taylor says she is prepared to resign as standard bearer of the National Patriotic Party, if this is necessary to bring peace in the NPP.

She called on all NPP members to put aside their difference and united so the agreement with the Coalition for Democratic Change will work.

VP Taylor made the disclosure when the NPP hosted its flag at its new headquarters near the Nigerian Embassy in Congo Town Wednesday.

According to her, the NPP will continue to retrogress and its members will suffer ; therefore it is the time for all national patriotic partisans restore the spirit that took the movement from its struggle in Butuo, Nimba County  to the Executive Mansion  in Monrovia.

Madam Taylor pointed out that members of the NPP including those who fought with their sweat, blood and   died in the revolution for them to benefit are yearning for peace in the party.

“There is nobody including me who is more important that the dreams and aspiration of the National Patriotic Party,” she said; adding: “let us do what is necessary to bring all partisans under one umbrella,”

She thanked Zoe Taylor, former Mayor of the City of Arthington in Montserrado County, the daughter of Taylor, for donating the home of the former standard bearer in Congo Town to be used as the new NPP headquarters

“I hope that everyone will make the ultimate sacrifice just as was done by Miss Zoe Taylor so the party will make progress because NPP is forward ever and backward never,” VP Jewel Taylor said.

She apologize for the wrong she may has done to other NPP members and appealed for all to put the past behind and ground the swords.

The Liberian Vice President appealed to the national leaders of the NPP especially those in Montserrado County to do all they to forget the issues that have divided the party over the years.

Madam Taylor maintained that the NPP cannot afford to wait for those who are creating obstacles in the way of unity in the party as there will no time to waist.

According to VP Taylor, the current headquarters has more than 40 offices in the building that will be able to host all the various organizations and auxiliaries.

There has been no word from the rest of the national executive committee of the NPP most of whom are still using its original office behind the Christ the King Catholic School in Congo Town.
