HARPER, Liberia- Police Inspector General Col. Patrick Sudue has spoken strongly against ritual killings as he called on the people of Maryland County to cooperate with the joint security in apprehending culprits.

The Liberian police chief wants people involved in ritual practices to have a change of mind and desist from killing and using fellow human beings as sacrifice, instead of cattle and bulls.

IG Sudue. was addressing a meeting with locals on Monday in Harper City, Maryland County.

He reassured citizens of the police’ commitment in ensuring that all of the suspects in the recent killing of the motorcyclist are brought to book.

The Police Inspector General explained that as a further testimonial to the commitment of the police, they ensured that Modicious Nyema – the first man suspected of complicity in the cyclist’s death was rearrested during the recent mass prisoners’ escape.

“If even we didn’t re-arrest any other prisoner, we made sure we apprehended him,”, IG Sudue stressed.

The national police chief revealed that a second suspect whose name was disclosed by Nyema of complicity in the cyclist’s murder is now also in their custody.

He again called for an end to the age-old ritualistic killings in Maryland County, following recent violent protests over the killing of the motorcyclist.

IG Sudue also wants citizens to stand up against persons involved in such acts by reporting them to authorities.

But he was quick to caution  against sowing seeds of division, urging citizens to instead unite against persons involved in ritual killings in the county.
