LMDI-WAEC sign MOU to enhance knowledge nationwide

The Liberia Media for Democratic Initiatives (LMDI) and the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) have signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate on the enhancement of the knowledge of the Liberian public on the general educational work of the Council across Liberia.

LMDI is the facilitator of the People To People public education flagship platforms, “THE DIALOGUE”, “DUCOR DEBATES” and TOMORROW’S PEOPLE”.

In the MOU, the LMDI agreed to plan and conduct sustained media and community outreach blended People To People engagements across Liberia for the sole purpose of creating public visibility on the work of the WAEC, mainly the conduct of public tests in Liberia.

The LMDI and WAEC agreed to collaborate on specific education activities for Liberian school High children specifically on building the questionnaire for the LMDI organized National General Knowledge Annual Quizzing Competition called, the National Academic Challenge Competition for Liberian High Schools.

The LMDI seeks to use past questions of all WAEC administered tests for its annual competitions.

Under the MOU, the LMDI and WAEC will generally provide technical expertise for each other’s work for the generic improvement of the Liberian Education System through National Public visibility on educational activities.

The LMDI and WAEC are particularly keen on knowledge building in the countryside about WAEC and general education engagement by the council.

During the signing ceremony, LMDI Director JOHN KOLLIE and WAEC Head of National Office, DALE GBOTOE lamented the gross lack of public engagement and knowledge on WAEC and its public tests in the past and committed to improve the situation, according to an LMDI press statement over the weekend.
