Monrovia- The Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) has received donation of a brand new Toyota Hilux Pickup from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to boost the Authority’s capacity in the collection of lawful revenues, an LRA press statement said at the weeend.
The vehicle will be used specifically to enhance the implementation of the country’s Domestic Resource Mobilization (DRM) Stretegy outreach programs.
Receiving keys to the vehicle at the One UN House in Sinkor, LRA Commissioner General Thomas Doe Nah applauded the UNDP for the generosity, describing the donation as a ‘milestone support to the LRA’.
The donation is a domostration of a vital partnership between the two instistutions that continues to be strengthened with the aim of enhancing revenue collection, he said.
CG Nah said the donation will bring more dynamism to the work of the LRA, particularly the DRM process. “The vihicle has come at the right time, and I can assure you that we will use it for the purpose intended,” the LRA Commissioner General stated.
The DRM is a vital link for self reliance and a major pillar for achieving the Sustaiable Development Goals (SDGs), he noted.
CG Nah meanwhile turned over the keys of the vehicle to LRA Deputy Commissioner General for Adminstrative Affairs, Aaron B. Kollie for operations and maintenance.
UNDP Team Leader for Sustainable Economic Transformation, Dorsla Farcarthy, praised the UNDP’s outstanding relationship with the LRA, noting that the LRA remains one of its responsible and compliant partners.
“We have a very goodand strong patnrship with the LRA and and the LRA has been one of our mostresponsible and compliant
patners and we enjoy the relastionship,” Mr.Farcarthy said.
He reaffirmed the UNDP’s commiment of support to the implementation of the DRM Stretegy and other initiatives stil in the pipeline.
The UNDP has been a major financial and technical contributor towards craffting the country’s DRM, involving financial suppport to four regional dialogues covering the 15 countries and a National Revennue symposium in 2017.
In November 2017, the UNDP commissioned two mordern scanners at the Roberts International Airport to facilate the clearence of baggages of arriving passangers.
