GBARNGA, Liberia- Police in the central Bong County have arrested, charged and sent to court a 35-year-old man on sodomy charges, after he allegedly drugged and sodomized another man.

Suspect Sylvester Whenley was also arrested with big amount of marijuana and other narcotic drugs reportedly imported from a neighboring country.

At a news conference here on Thursday, Police said that the perpetrator, who claims he is a gold miner, contracted the victim from Monrovia to wire his house before drugging him and committing the action at his Dementa road residence.

The head of the Police Detachment in Bong County, Assistant Commissioner Fasu Sheriff told Journalists that medical report from the C.B. Dunbar Maternity hospital confirmed that the victim was sodomized.

For his part, the alleged perpetrator Sylvester Whenley denied the allegation, stating that he loves women and will never commit such an abomination.

“Let me tell you, I love woman business too good. I can’t do such thing,” Mr. Whenley told Journalists during police preliminary investigation.

“If I did such a thing, I should not enjoy my children. In fact, let my children be cursed if I did it,” the suspect added.

He explained that the victim has always contacted him to wire his house, but has never settled in giving him the contract. He maintains that the victim’s constant engagement convinced him in doing the work.

“The guy has been calling and visiting me every time to wire my house, but I never took it serious as I don’t have electricity around my area. I later agreed and sent for him from Monrovia. When he came, I provided extra room in the house for him to sleep for the time. I was only surprised when the police came with force to arrest me over sodomy. How will I do such thing,” suspect Whenley stated.

Drugs issue

On the illicit drugs, he denied police arrested any but confirmed that he was arrested and his purse was seized, something police investigators say contained some drugs.

“The police arrested my colleagues and I while we were seated lecturing in my porch. They took my purse and a drinking [tea] cup. I didn’t have drugs inside,” he explained.

Meanwhile, four motorcyclists who were arrested oin the porch of the perpetrator admitted smoking and chewing local substances (marijuana) at his (perpetrator’s) house, while one of the four arrested maintained that he purchased his parcel from the street.

Peter S. Bono also failed to identify the supplier, stressing that he doesn’t known the seller.
