The Liberian media industry has lost one of its few female executives, Ms. Victoria Freeman, Station Manager of Fabric FM 101.1, who was highly admired and respected.

The late Victoria Freeman, Fabric FM Station Manager

Her sudden death on Thursday has plunged the station into mourning, disrupting its normal programs of news and information, with the playing of solemn/Gospel music.

The fallen Fabric FM Chief Executive Officer (CEO) was noted for her love for work and her interest in building the capacity of her young and dynamic staff at FM101, which won PUL Best Radio Station of the Year few years ago.

Since news of the death of Ms. Freeman hit the media, there has been a flurry of messages of grief on the station’s website and on Facebook and other Social Media network.

One person who worked with her on a few capacity building projects is the Managing Editor of www.newspublictrust.com Frank Sainworla, Jr. who expressed shock upon learning about the death of Ms. Freeman early Friday morning.

“News of Vicky’s death is shattering. She was a quiet storm full with positive thinking and a strong interest in building the capacity of her staff. As all of us imperfect humans, she had her strengths and weaknesses but she was a formidable woman with a positive touch. My heart bleeds over your death!!!” Mr. Sainworla says.

Mr. Anderson Maimen, the Executive Director of the Center for Transparency and Accountability (CENTAL) says: “Our thoughts are with Fabric FM and family of the deceased. May the soul of your late Manager and member Rest in Peace.”

Far away in London, Liberian media entrepreneur, Max K. Mixer expressed “sympathy” over this loss.

She always appeared calm but was a touch Manager who was in control.

The Vice President of the Sports Writers Association (SWAL), who is also Sports Producer at the state-owned Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS), Kolubah Zayzay wirtes on Facebook, “Take your rest Ma”; while Adulai Dargo, a Fabric FM fan say “what a great loss.”
