KAKATA, Liberia- The Delaware Valley Chapter of the Margibi Association of North America has donated an emergency relief to the County Health Team (CHT) of Margibi to boost its COVID-19 response.

The donation included 130 bags of 25kg rice, 500 pieces of home-made face masks and 56 gallons of oil to the Health Team for the benefit of healthcare providers.

The focal person of the association Joseph Yoko, who presented the items to the County Superintendent and the CHT, said the gesture is a continuation of the organization’s contributions to the County and its citizens in the wake of the pandemic.

Mr. Yoko recalled that in July of 2015 the Delaware chapter of MASA similarly contributed medical supplies to the C.H. Rennie Hospital and has again come to identify with the county’s health sector.

“We have come to present these items on behalf of the Margibi Association in North America, the Delaware Valley State. They have been in Margibi for some time contributing to the county’s health sector,” Mr. Yoko noted.

The items are to be used by health workers; especially front liners and all those involved in the fight against the outbreak, he said.

For her part, the County Coordinator of MASSA, Alice Tokpah thanked the Delaware Chapter of the Association for thinking about the people of Margibi as exemplified by their donation.

Tokpah pointed out that the organization was created to give back to the society it originated from. She has at the same time said that she will relay the excitement of the people of Margibi about their contribution.

Alice Tokpah: “We want to say thank you, we pray that God will give you the strength to do more”.

She said the name MASSA is a household name in Kakata, where most of the beneficiaries live. Tokpah has also assured the people of Margibi that the organization will continue to do what it has begun.

The items were received by County Superintendent Jerry Varnie, County Health Officer Dr. Myers Pajebo and the Administrator of the C.H. Rennie Hospital, Saywala Mulbah.

In separate statements, they thanked the association for the gesture and assured its leadership that they will be used for the purpose intended.

But they have at the same clarified that their usage will not be limited to only public health facilities or workers.
