Monrovia City Mayor, Jefferson Koijee says President George Weah wants a united Liberia where all citizens can live and embrace each other happily.
Speaking on Monday when he received a gigantic cow from the Fulah Community as President Weah’s 52nd birth anniversary gift, the youthful Mayor of Monrovia lauded the move saying it is received in good fate.
He reechoed that what matters above all is national unity. According to him, the gift from the Fulah community sends a clear message of peace, unity and reconciliation among community members/
Mr. Koijee, who is also the Chairman of the ruling CDC Youth Wing, stressed that Fulahs remain an integral part of the country and that the Liberian leader appreciates them so much.
Mayor Koijee used the occasion to caution fellow Liberians against being divided on political lines, while at the same time urging other communities to emulate their examples.
“The President is interested in a united Liberia…. We must work together to succeed as a country,” he said.
Drawing an apparent analogy between former President William VS Tubman and President George Weah, Mayor Koijee recalled how prior to his ascendency to the presidency, the former was castigated through utterances.
But he added that against the odds, history remembers Tubman as one of the best presidents Liberia has ever had, on account of his numerous development programs and opportunities created for Liberians then, stressing, President Weah will succeed no matter what.
Meanwhile, the Fulah Community in Liberia has iationexpressed appreciation for the Liberian Government headed by President George Manneh Weah for the level of unity, peace and reconciliation prevailing across the country over the past nine months of his presidency.
They prayed that the almighty Allah will shower endless blessings upon him as he continues to lead the nation.
“We pray that the Almighty Allah will protect and guard our president and give him long life”, the Fulahs said in their statement, presented by Mohammed Sow, a ranking member in the community said the Fulani community.
Mr. Sow said at the 73rd United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), the president passionately highlighted the country’s plight in several key sectors including health and education.
“We will work with you to achieve the pro poor agenda. You will succeed in rebuilding Liberia and we pray that God gives you wisdom to lead this country toward peace, unity and reconciliation across the country,” the statement read.
