More Trees Being Planted By Young Women’s Action For Rights, Peace And Development

In continuation of its campaign to plant 5000 trees in Liberia in 2023, the Young Women’s Action for Rights, Peace and Development (YWARPD) has begun the planting of 300 trees in the city of Brewerville on the outskirts of Monrovia.

The ceremony in Brewerville, which recently coincided with the celebration of the Day of the African Child on June 16, kicked off in the compound of the city hall in the city.

Speaking on behalf of the Mayor of Brewerville, Bedell Fahn, during the kick off ceremony, the Director of Environmental and Safety of the Brewerville City Corporation, Mr. Roosevelt A. Morgan, stressed the importance of trees to the environment and pledged the support of the Brewerville City Corporation to the initiative.

He acknowledged that tree is life and recounted the number of initiatives undertaken by the Brewerville to protect the environment and at the same time mitigate the threat of climate change. support of Brewerville City Corporation in protecting all of the trees that will be planting by YWARPD. For her part, the Executive Director of YWARPD stated that the planting of the trees were necessary to protect the environment and spoke of plans by her organization to extend the tree planting campaign to other parts of the country.

She commended the Brewerville City Corporation for embracing the initiative and also paid tribute to the management of Liberty Investment Limited, Producer of the popular Aqua life, for serving as an official sponsor of the Tree Planting Campaign and called on other stakeholders to support the campaign.

Also speaking during the planting of trees by students in Brewerville City, the Vice Principal of the Annie Bank Williams School, Mr. Morris Z. Jallah praised the efforts of YWARPD and pledged the support of his school to the campaign.  He described the campaign as laudable and called on students, especially female students across the country, to join YWARPD in its quest to protect the environment, a press release from YWARPD says.
