Barclayville, Grand Kru- The Chief Executive Officer of Orphan Children Self Help Initiative Program (OC-SHIP) appealed for humanitarian supports for orphan children and vulnerable youth in Grand Kru County.
OC- SHIP is a local based community organization providing counseling and supporting orphans and vulnerable youths in Grand Kru established in 2016.
According to Bartholomew K. Wreh, his organization has made several gains aimed at providing educational materials to orphans children within the county.
He put the number of orphans both male and female at over two hundred who lost their parents during the war and the Ebola outbreak, including other complications that are in dire need of support to reduce the high risk of vulnerability in Grand Kru.
Mr. Wreh is therefore seeking aids from the county authority, Legislative Caucus, Central Government, NGOs, INGOs and other humanitarian partners to provide both financial and educational materials to buttress his organization in the southeastern county of Grand Kru.
He emphasized to mold the minds of the children who have lost their fathers and mother in the Liberian society.
It is urgent that the government gives them keen attention by erecting save homes for them at the County level, in order to prevent them from being exposed, the head of the local NGO said.
Mr. Wreh said this has the propensity to endanger their future.
The CEO for OC- SHIP stressed that the best grift that should be provided for orphans is education that will allow them to be self-reliant.
He said that his institution for the past years received funding from the Foundation for the Empowerment of Rural Dwellers (FERD)

At the same time, the Seventh Day Adventist Church Grand Kru Chapter has expressed interest in rendering support to orphans and vulnerable youth in the County.
Evangelist Henry Bill Gweh, Sr. of the SDA Grand Kru maintained that the intervention of his church in supporting the initiative of OC-SHIP is in fulfillment of the Bible scriptures.
He said James 1:27 that sates: “We should look after the distress and widows in their affliction, and to keep them on unspotted from the World.”
The SDA Evangelist pledged his overwhelming support to the recognition and promotion of the humanitarian organization in the County.
He encouraged religious groups and local stakeholders to help improve the condition of children and support Orphan Children for self-help initiative programs to seek the welfare of orphans in Grand Kru County.
Meanwhile, the officials of the institution have announced that the official launch of the organization is schedule for June 29, 2019 in Barclayville district.
