-With commitment to return for work

“We’ve had great times in Liberia, the food, interactions and most of all the resilience of the people!” exclaim intern students from the North Carolina Central University at the end of their visit to Monrovia.
The interns, who arrived in Liberia two weeks ago, were speaking on a local radio program, Liberian Talk on King’s FM 88.5MHZ in the Liberian capital on Wednesday.
The US university students were deployed at various lines Ministries and Agencies are said to be wrapping up their internship program in Liberia.
The links between North Carolina Central University and the Government of Liberia under the stewardship of President George Weah strengthen values of public trust and service.
The nine female interns were dispatched to the Government biggest referral Hospital John F. Kennedy Medical Center, Juvenile division & Probation section at the ministry of Justice, Ministry of Health & Social Welfare, Liberia Institute for Public Administration, Civil Service Agency, the ministry of Labor and the President Young Professional program.
The students and government employees at their various places of assignment shared experiences.
They expressed delight for the opportunity afforded them and to interact with new friends in Liberia.
The North Carolina Central University students made a number of observations at the end of their internship.
They observed the untimeliness of many workers at the various offices they were assigned, over crowdedness of the prison, the mixing of both juveniles and adults in the same prison facility, and among other things.
They recommended that the Government of Liberia put in serious measures aimed at solving such problems, if the gov’t is to succeed.
The Students promised upon graduation to Liberia in the future and contribute in the development and reform processes of the Country.
Accompanying the Students to the Studio were the Chair of the Department of Public Administration and facilitator of the partnership, Dr. Emmanuel Oritsejafor and the Director of the EMPA program Dr. Larrisha McGill-Youngblood.
For his part Dr. Oritsejafor says, the Public Administration program at NCCU uses this global experience to help students understand the practice and theory of public administration through a close partnership with leaders in the Liberian government and this year team has been doing an awesome job.
Dr. Youngblood then commanded the team and expressed joy in working with the Liberian Government especially in the public sector.
The team will depart Liberia on this Friday May 25, 2018 for the United States. Appearing on the radio were Kaliah CottonMichelle, DigsbyShana Summers Elizabeth Gaye, Davida Jones, Maryssa Saddler, Dr. Larissha McGill Youngblood.
