* The author, BSc., LLB, LL.M, former Liberia’s Permanent Representative to the International Maritime Organization (IMO). Also served with Liberia’s Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism from 2008 as Assistant and later Deputy Minister for Press & Public Affairs. Jackson defends a political career which arises from his days as a student activist at the University of Liberia.
It was under his watch that a Judicial staff set himself ablaze.
Also, under his watch, staff at the Judiciary went unpaid for several months without him saying a moaning word.
A remorseless revisionist, outgoing Chief Justice Francis Korkpor falsely claimed that those incarcerated as a result of the rice riot were not political prisoners.
Outgoing Chief Justice Francis Korkpor
Even though, the people who participated in the rice riot were charged with treason. Imagine, the Chief Justice spouting such utter gibberish without a twinge of guilt.
Today, the reputation of the Judiciary is at its lowest nadir. Hence, I join other critics of Korkpor in saying, shame on Korpkor!
Regrettably, I think Korkpor tarnished the memory of Bishop Francis’ death by turning his back on justice in many of the cases he decided. Liberia is at a low place. Imagine, a US-sanctioned criminal presiding over the confirmation hearings of Justices of our Supreme Court.
