The former ruling Unity Party (UP) Secretary General, Mo Ali, Monday appeared before Liberian Police, who are trying to establish a connection between recent Facebook posts attributed to him and two separate petrol bomb attacks in Monrovia.
The two petrol bomb attacks, which followed Ali’s Facebook posts considered as a security threat, hit the headquarters of the National Elections Commission (NEC) and the home of the Supreme Court Associate Justice Joseph Nagbe.
Police say considering their statutory responsibility to protect life and property and the sequence of events that followed Mr. Ali’s comments, they saw it fit to have a conversation with him “regarding the motive and intend [intent]of your post… Schedule date for your appearance is Friday, March 19 2021 @ 10:00 AM”.

Ali also on record for labeling Justice Nagbe as a “crook tribalist”.
On social media, Ali had addressed NEC thus: “Dear National Elections Commission (NEC), we understand the ploy. But try it and you will see what is gonna be the end result”.
The police expressed in their invitation to Mr. Ali that consequent to his post, “we have noticed incidents of petrol bombs thrown at the residence of associate Justice, Joseph Nagbe and the headquarters of NEC respectively, leaving properties damaged.”
Mr. Ali failed to appear on March 19, 2021, and was declared a wanted man by the police. He later reported later on Monday March 22, 2021, at which time police widened the scope of the probe to include the petrol bomb thrown at Justice Nagbe’s residence.
Consequently, lawyers representing the accused asked for two days to review the latest allegation against their client in order to be able to adequately represent him when he appears on Thursday of this week to continue the investigation.
Montserrado County Senator Darius Dillon regretted that the police investigation involving Ali had turned political, cautioning the them against effecting any arrest of the UP Chief Scribe outside of the proper channel.
Mr. Ali was accompanied to national Police headquarters by a host of executives of the CPP including Senator Nyonblee Karngar Lawrence, Messrs. Alexander Cummings, Benoni Urey, Musa Bility, among others.
