PAYOWI Executive Coordinator Now Heads Liberian Women NGO Secretariat’s Board

Davis Yango, Secretary, WONGOSOL, Laura Bee Kiepo, Financial Secretary, Women Empowerment Forum, Jannet O. Paye, Region 1Coordinator, Women Care Initiative, Kona Kollie, Region 2 Coordinator, Young Liberian Women Organization for Improvement, Laura Targbeh Korvah, Region 3 Coordinator, Young Women Political Council of Liberia and Grace Scottland Brimah, Region 4 Coordinator, We$SELF, to the Board Thanks for the work you do, for the women of Liberia and humanity.

Atty. Facia Harris and the other newly inducted WONGOSOL Board members are to be in office for the next two years.

She emphasized the importance of strengthening the oversight and coordination roles of Women NGO secretariat of Liberia and promised the Board’s commitment to do just that.

She also encouraged donors/partners and Allies to Continue their support for the advancement of women rights across the country through its partnership and its membership.

The new Chairperson of the board of directors of WONGOSAL, Atty. Harris said  at the induction ceremony that the safety and security, wellbeing and social welfare of women human rights activists and women Hunan rights defenders remain critical to the overall advancement of women human rights activists.

The Women’s NGO Secretariat of Liberia (WONGOSOL) was founded in 1998 as an entity to coordinate the operations of women’s groups in Liberia.

It brings together women to formulate and share their independent views on government problems that directly impact women in Liberia.

“We coordinate the operations of women’s organizations in Liberia. We have approximately 104 network members spread across Liberia’s 15 political subdivisions. Our purpose is to end discrimination against women and promote women’s involvement and empowerment at all levels of society through collaboration,” the newly inducted WONGOSOL Board Chairperson said.

According to Atty. Facia Harris, the organization has a membership of over 104 network members in the 15 political sub–divisions of Liberia.
