The vision bearer of Liberia’s newest registered political party, People’s Liberation Party has underscored the need to democratically change the socio-economic and political system in order to improve the lives of the ordinary people and provide employment.
Dr. Daniel Cassell noted that the Liberia has experienced what he described as a failed system over the years and there is need to inject new dynamism and vigorous energy to bring change in the political arena and maximize economic development.
The PLP leader, was addressing a recent press conference in Monrovia, said it is regrettable to see a country so rich with natural resources while a vast majority of the people lives in object poverty.
According to him, he is endeavoring to ensure that resources and taxes of the country are spent for the good of people through equitable distribution regardless of regions, segments and political affiliation.
The PLP vision bearer said the Liberian people are experiencing the most difficult times since the foundation of the country’s history and appealed to them to work collectively to change the system which has failed to ease their sufferings over the years.
“When I say am running for the presidential office,” he went on, “ I am running because I want to change the system because I am not one of those politicians wishing to use the resources of the country to enrich himself.”
“ some of these politicians rely on government positions and resources to do good so as to win support of the people ; but for me, I am showing the Liberian people that my money which was acquired from United States is intended to see the lives of masses change.”
The PLP vision bearer indicated that what is going in the country is not right therefore Liberians should work along with him and his party to change the status quo.
“People go through university and they can find jobs and there is salary harmonization but still salaries are not pay regularly.”
“Do you think that is life?” he asked; adding: “look at the youths ; there is no investment in them , as a result , most of them are living hopelessly. As I speak, there is no spell out program spear-headed by the government to rehabilitate thousands of our disadvantaged youths,” the PLP leader said
“Significant number of our disabled brothers and sisters are on the streets begging and old people are of no exception; we cannot continue to allow this suffering to continue.”
“But when I reach out to them,” he continued, “some of the politicians say that I am doing this for political reason.”
Before forming and registering his PLP at the National Elections Commission, Dr. Cassell has been in the media over six years because of his many humanitarian assistance through his Daniel Cassell Charity Foundation.
Interestingly, over the last few days he has surfaced as the vision bearer of the People’s Liberation Party, a newly accredited political party.
Last year, he made a donation of US$10,000.00 to the Press Union of Liberia (PUL) during its anniversary program in Liberia’s western city of Tubmanburg, Bomi County.
