TEMPLE OF JUSTICE, Monrovia- After resisting court warrant and insulting a Court Officer, Liberia National Police Inspector General (IG), Patrick Sudue has now appeared in court at the Temple of Justice in Monrovia.
But he was accompanied on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 by the Solicitor General at the Justice Ministry, Cllr. Cyrena Cephus.
IG Sudue was left in the court room, while SG. Cephus entered into the Judge’s Chamber and begged on his behalf, promising to return the seven vehicles along with their keys, which the police chief had refused to do upon Court order.
The Liberian Police IG was held in contempt the first time but he promised to turn over the keys last Friday something he failed to do.
It can be recalled that in 2016 when one Mr. Campbell was importing used cars into Liberia, former Police IG Gregory Coleman by then said they received an intelligence that acquitted Campbell. He was charged with theft of property.
The businessman was accused of smuggling, criminal conspiracy and Criminal facilitation stoled those vehicles from the US.
Base upon the intelligence received by then, those vehicles were seized and some of the m were taken by some individuals, while others cannot even be located.
The number of vehicles seized are seven.
Meanwhile, Judge Nancy Sammy of Criminal Court C has given the police IG twenty-four hours to turn over those vehicles and keys.
