Pres. Weah Promises To Ensure Liberians’ Health & Welfare

But Nominates Maxwell Kemaya As Foreign Minister

After sacking NPHIL boss, Dr. Mosoka Fallah, President George Weah has promised not to leave any stone unturned in ensuring that the health and welfare of Liberians remain paramount.

Dr. Weah said he remains committed to implementing the recommendations contained in the Report. And he has ordered the publication of the Committee’s full report, an Executive Mansion press release said at the weekend.

The President on Friday dismissed with immediate effect the Director-General of the National Public Health Institute of Liberia , Dr. Fallah last week.

The Liberian leader’s decision to sack Dr. Fallah is in line with findings and recommendations of the special investigative committee set up to probe reported breaches in the health and administrative protocols, guiding the issuance of Covid-19 test results by NPHIL.

President Weah thanked Dr. Linda Birch, Chair of the Probe Committee and the members of her committee for their professionalism, time, and manner they carried out the investigation.

The committee was charged with the responsibility of finding out whether there were systemic breaches in the reporting procedure of COVID-19 results, nd recommending actions to be taken in order to remedy the situation.

Meanwhile, Dr. Patrick N. Kpanyen, Deputy Director-General for Administration at NPHIL, will continue to act as Director-General pending further action.

Maxwell Kemaya nominated as Foreign Minister

Also last week, Liberia’s Ambassador to the United Nations, D. Maxwell Kemaya has been named Liberian Foreign Minister designate by President George Manneh Weah.

A Foreign Ministry press release on Thursday, September 3, 2020 said Amb. Kemaya was nominated Liberia’s as Minister of Foreign Affairs, pending confirmation by the Liberian Senate.

Before becoming Ambassador to the UN, he served as Deputy Foreign Minister for Administration.

A prominent member of the Liberian business community, Mr. Kemaya once served as President of the Liberian Business Association (LIBA) for several years.
