The Director General designate of the Center for National Documents and Records Agency (CNDRA), C. Neileh Daitouah has told the Senate confirmation hearing that he will promote transparency and accountability at the National Archives.
‘’We shall sanction an audit at the agency by calling on the General Auditing Commission (GAC) to conduct a system of financial control that will enable reflect transparency and accountability taken into account government’s policies that foster the fight against corruption,” the CNDRA Director General designate said.
Daitouah also said during his confirmation hearing on Tuesday that he will seek adequate budgetary allocations to provide better incentives for employees of the agency.
He said on Tuesday that such allocations would enhance the promotion of high standards of professionalism and ethics.
Appearing before Senate Standing on Autonomous Agencies at the Capitol Building in Monrovia, the CNDRA Director General designate said substantial portion of the institution’s budget will be directed at domestic and foreign trainings of employees.
Daitouah said he will lobby with the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, the 54th Legislature and international partners to train professional staffers that will ably meet the enormous challenges associated with modern preservation of Liberia heritage, if confirmed as the Archive Center’s Director General.
‘’The improvement of employee’s incentives and building their technical capacities cannot be over emphasized or swept under the carpet,” Daitouah said.
Besides, the Center for National Documents and Records Agency / National Archives , is indeed one of the revenue generating institutions of government and therefore deserves improved financial capacity o facilitate the demonstration of professional standards and provide effective and efficient services delivery to the Liberian people’’.
For his part, Kollie Kamara, CNDRA Deputy Director General for Administration designate vowed to foster unity among its employees despite of political affiliations.
He said if employees at the agency are unite under one umbrella the leadership will certainly achieved its vision and mission.
He called on workers to put aside their differences and work in the interest of Liberia.
Meanwhile, C. Neileh Daitouah, Director General emeritus of CNDRA , under the National Patriotic Party (NPP) led government said his administration will seek to revive Liberia membership at the International Council on Archives (ICA) by constructively engaging central government to enable her regularize Liberia status.
The International Council on Archives is the world body on Archives responsible to review, upgrade and improve archival activities.
The Center for National Documents and Records Agency is category A-Member of the West Africa branch of the International Council on Archives (WABICA).
Daitouah expressed optimism that when given the opportunity to serve his country as Director General of the CNDRA.
He pledged to serve with patriotism, diligence, commitment and professionalism as he embarked to take the nations national holding to the next level of modernized preservations.
