PUL Mourns Deaths Of Emmanuel Bowier And Broadcast Journalist Yede Allison

The Press Union of Liberia (PUL) regrets the death of veteran Journalists Rev. J Emmanuel Z Bowier, and Yede Allison. Rev. Bowier, former chairman of the National Media Council of the Press Union of Liberia, former Information Minister and a Liberian historian, died last weekend following an illness, while journalist Yede Allison of ECOWAS Radio also died recently following an illness.

In a press release on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, the Union prayed for God the almighty to console the bereaved families, describing the death of the two journalists as loss to the media community and Liberia as a whole.

PUL president Charles B Coffey, Jr  termed Rev. Bowier’s death as a great vacuum to Liberia’s mentorship process and an irreparable loss to the Press Union of Liberia, which he Rev Bowier served as chairman of the PUL national media council. Mr. Coffey said Rev Bowier was very instrumental in   ensuring ethical standards and good journalism.

Mr. Coffey also described Yede Allison as an astute broadcast journalist, who stood for principles and professional standards.

Meanwhile the PUL is collaborating with ECOWAS Radio and Yede’s family for the signing of a book of condolence, on Thursday July 1, 2021 beginning 10:30 am at the Union’s headquarters on Clay Street in Monrovia.

At the same time, Union is urging all of its members, journalists, media workers and the public to turnout for the signing of the book of condolence in honor of Yede Allison on Thursday, July 1, 2021 with straight adherence to various health protocols.

Meanwhile, the Union is calling on all media institutions especially radio stations to highlight the works of Rev. J Emmanuel Z Bowier and Yede Allison as a way of paying tributes to the fallen colleagues.
