Rape Leaves 5-Year-Old Girl Paralyzed In Lofa, Liberia

Reports from Jallahman, Voinjama District in Liberia’s northwestern Lofa County say a girl, 5 has gone completely paralyzed, after being raped.

The alleged rapist is not yet known, but accusing fingers are being pointed at the biological father or an unknown individual.

The little rape survivor is now said to be unable to sit by herself and can’t even urinate, neither can see toilet due to the harm done to her private part.

Currently, the five-year-old rape survivor is using tube to urinate and toilet.

After the rape attack on her, the child is said to be paralyzed from the waist down.

In recent days, the little girl has been escorted to the Liberian capital, Monrovia by the Lofa County Attorney Luther Sumo on board an ambulance belonging to the Ministry of Health.

According to the report, the 5-year-old raped survivor and her two siblings were staying with their parents, but her mother later left the home and went to stay with her new boyfriend in another village, leaving three children with her ex-lover.

The survivor’s mother went to visit them recently in Voinjama when the  rape survivor told her that she never wanted to stay with her father again. So, she decided to take her along with her to where she has moved with her new boyfriend.

The girl explained that at one point in time, her biological father, whose name has not been disclosed, called her in the room and rubbed something her, which made her weak.

Her father is alleged to have later put his penis in her private part, which resulting into bleeding.

But as it stands, several questions are being asked as to the exact circumstances surrounding the alleged rape incident.

How was the condition of the survivor when her mother took her to her new relationship? When exactly did the mother observe the girl’s condition?
